Gyros in Japan
By Dan Jordan

Tammi and I had the wonderful opportunity to meet and fly with many rotorcraft enthusiast as we toured Japan this summer.  Our second day there we got to meet with the group that visited Oregon last April and to tour the Techman Gyro factory  owned and operated by Mr. Kiyoshi Onoda.
Mr. Onoda started flying gyros back in the late 60's with the then popular Bensen style Gyros.  By the early 70's he was performing flight demonstrations at airshows throughout Japan including the very first gyro flyin at Ryugasaki Airport back in 1971.  Mr. Onoda, having been a machinist and motorcycle parts manufacturer during that time,  built his gyro with such great skill that many people would hire him to build gyros for them in his spare time.

Hi everyone,
Today I would like to tell all of you about another great web site. This service is provided by g.c.r. & associates, inc., 3230 West Esplanade Ave., Metairie, LA 70002.
http://www.gcr1.com/5010web/ It is an airport information warehouse. Plug in the name of the airport and the state and WAHLLAA. You get a map, General information about names and phone numbers and all kinds of field info. Plus you get Services & Facilities, Based Aircraft and Operations information. But wait, there is more.....You also get Runway info and Remarks. If you want to plan a cross-country flight, this is a great tool.

Happy flying,
Bob Johnson
